AUGUST 28TH WASHING MY CHILDREN'S FEET
Another unforgettable memory, is sharing the gospel with these children and seeing them accept Christ as their personal Savior and being able to wash their feet as the disciples feet were washed by Jesus right before He was to leave them. These children probably have never had their feet washed. It was not as easy for me because I could not bend down or kneel to do it because of my knee replacements but I would not have taken that experience from them even if it "killed me" - I tried to help them understand that being a Christian means His spirit comes to live in them and that now just as Jesus has done for us so must we do for others such as forgiving, sharing, helping one another, and doing for others. It was an amazing journey I took with these children but to fully grasp the concept I know will take them a life time. Emmanuel's consistent follow ups with this material and helping them hopefully will help this seed we planted in them to grow and prosper and it is my prayer that they will do so and I ask for all of your prayers along with mine that this will happen in Gods perfect timing, not ours. You will notice in these pictures, that at one point I had to take off my shirt to wipe their feet dry as there were no towels and I did this because I had another shirt on underneath luckily. The water got so dirty and there was no time to change the water or ask for more as we had to get it from the mamas and they were so busy cooking and needed the little water they had. The children did not seem to care. As I washed their feet I could feel the callouses they had on the bottoms of their feet and how rough their skin was from going without shoes and working so hard with chores at home.
